2013 GTP Auditions

Building on its highest placement and score in history, Green Thunder Percussion (GTP), the Independent Open Class percussion ensemble presented by The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, is now recruiting serious male percussion students in the Chicago-area for the 2013 winter season!

The GearWORKS: Green Thunder 2013 Auditions will be held on Sunday, October 14, with the Call-Back camp held on Sunday, November 4 -- both set at Rosemont Elementary School in Rosemont, Ill.

Green Thunder Percussion's membership is open to all male students between the ages of 13 & 22. Auditions will be held on snare, tenor, bass, keyboard, and percussion/piano.

The organization concurrently serves as an ideal preparation resource for those interested in auditioning for The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. Through performance opportunities in competitive and non-competitive environments throughout the Midwest, GTP provides a percussive outlet for advanced players under the instruction of some of the most talented and skilled educators in the nation.

The GearWORKS: Green Thunder 2013 Auditions will further present the musical and visual approach utilized by Green Thunder Percussion. The competitive performance season continues through April 2013, and prospective members who audition and are accepted should plan on regular attendance and a serious personal commitment to the group. Almost all scheduling conflicts can be worked out, and certain activities such as school performances and college auditions will take precedent. These will all be worked out at the beginning of the season. All performance dates (TBD) are required.

HOW TO AUDITION FOR GREEN THUNDER PERCUSSION

1. Download and complete the Application Form.
2. Download and complete the Medical Form.
3. Submit your $50 non-refundable GearWORKS: Green Thunder Auditions payment via Cavaliers.org Fee Payment Center.
4. Bring completed Application and Medical Form, as well as sticks/mallets and a practice pad, with you to the Audition Camps.
5. Prepare Audition Materials and a short solo performance piece.

GOT CHOPS- FALL CHOP SESSIONS

Fall Chop Sessions are here!!  Chops Sessions are designed for students looking to further themselves in the area of marching percussion.  Specificaly on snare, tenor, bass drum and keyboards.  Chop sessions are open to ALL students and are a great way to prepare for winter/ summer auditions as well as meet/ play with outher kids from the Chicagoland area.

Date:  Sunday Sept. 16 & Sunday Sept. 30

Time:  1-6pm

Location:  Rosemont Elementary School, Rosemont, Illinois

Cost:  $40/ session or $75/ both sessions

Green Thunder Auditions

Calling all male drummers ages 13-21.  Green Thunder Percussion will be holding open auditions for performers interested in marching the 2011-2012 Indoor season on Sunday, October 23 from 12p-6p.  Auditions will be held at Batavia HS, 1200 W. Wilson St., Batavia, IL, 60510.  There will be a call back audition the following Sunday, October 30 from 12p-6p, this audtion will be held at Rosemont Elementary School.  A one time audition fee of $50.00 can be paid either online at www.cavaliers.org in the payment center under Green Thunder Auditions or by cash/ check upon registration at auditions. 

Green Thunder Perucssion will be auditioning for marching snare, tenors (quadz), bass drum, cymbals and front ensemble (marimba, vibe, synthesizer and percussion).  GT is made up of performers from the Chicagoland area.  Typically rehearsing in the SouthWest suburbs of Chicago, GT does travel to Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio for competitions.

Fall Chop Sessions

Calling all drummers.  We are excited to announce the dates for our Fall Chop Sessions.  Dates include Sept. 11, 25 and October 9.  September dates will be held at Lyons Township HS in LaGrange, Il and our October date will be held at Lake Park HS, West Campus.

Lake Park HS, West Campus.  500 Bryn Mawr, Roselle, IL

Sessions are from 1-6p and cost $40/ session or $100/ all three.  Green Thunder will provide all instruments.
